Experience the mission before the day begins.
FIRST LIGHTA small-group sunrise experience built around the part of conservation that’s hardest to communicate in a ballroom: actually being there.
Supporters, partners, prospective donors, media or emerging members gather before sunrise at a DU-supported wetland or conservation property for a guided morning in the field—followed by breakfast and a conversation about what they just experienced.
Why it works:
The mission becomes personal once someone watches a wetland wake up.
It gives DU a premium relationship-building experience that can work for donors, partners, media and prospective supporters without requiring a traditional fundraising event.
And importantly, it complements DU’s hunting heritage without requiring the experience itself to be a hunt—making it accessible to a broader supporter audience while staying completely connected to the reason DU exists. DU itself describes its roots in hunting while emphasizing that its mission is conserving, restoring and managing wetlands and associated habitats.
What it could include:
Pre-dawn arrival + coffee
Sunrise wetland or wildlife observation
Guided conservation walk or boat experience
DU biologist / conservation leader interpretation
Field breakfast
Small-group conversation with donors + partners
Optional photography or content capture
